As part of the future redevelopment work on Avenue Charles de Gaulle in Carpiquet, the Caen la mer urban community and the Caen Basin Water Syndicate will undertake major works to renew the drinking water, wastewater and rainwater networks.
These operations will take place from May 18, 2026 to mid-January 2027 in several areas located near Caen-Carpiquet airport, including:
- Avenue Charles de Gaulle
- Rue des Basles,
- Lost River Street.
A multi-phase construction project
The work will be organized according to the following provisional schedule:
Phase 1 – From May 18 to 25, 2026
Preliminary surveys will be carried out on Avenue Charles de Gaulle.


Phase 2 – From May 26 to June 19, 2026
Network renewal work will take place at the intersection of Rue d'Authie and Avenue de la Haie Hue.
Phase 3 – From mid-June to the end of November 2026
The operations will continue on Avenue Charles de Gaulle.


Phase 4 – From the end of November 2026 to mid-January 2027
The works will concern Rue des Basles and Rue de la Rivière Perdue.
Traffic conditions and access
Throughout the duration of the construction project:
- Some sections of the road will be temporarily closed;
- Parking will be prohibited within the work zone;
- Detours will be put in place, notably via Rue de l'Avenir.
Caen-Carpiquet Airport remains accessible throughout the duration of the works. However, users are advised to plan their journeys in advance and allow extra travel time depending on the progress of the construction.
